To all Pharmacy Students,
Lobby Day in Albany is set for Tuesday, March 31st. For this annual event, pharmacy students, pharmacists, and state pharmacy leaders from all over New York converge on Albany to lobby state legislators and educate them about important bills that strengthen our profession and help the citizens of New York.
Beginning next week, we will have a table outside HS 107 to sign up for a seat on the bus. Reservations are $10 and are refundable to all who attend. Students who do not go to Albany will not receive a refund.
Our preparation for Lobby Day begins with a Dean’s Hour Program on Monday, March 2 at 11 a.m. in HS 107. Dr. Henry Cohen will discuss the importance of finally passing CDTM (Collaborative Drug Therapy Management) and what it means for NYS and for you as future practitioners. At this time 45 other states have already passed CDTM legislation. Attendance is mandatory for those who wish to attend lobby day.
We are looking for student group leaders as well. Please contact me at the sign up table next week or email Patrick Campbell at Patrick.Campbell@liu.edu and leave your cell phone and email address.
Student leaders will take groups of up to 15 students and a faculty member to meet with up to four legislators or their staff that day.
The buses leave at 6:15 a.m. outside the DeKalb Avenue Campus gate and we return to Brooklyn by 6:30 p.m. Students are expected to dress professionally and bring white coats if you have one.
Early sign up begins on Tuesday, February 17th between 11:00 and 12:00 outside HS 107.
If you have any questions you can email me at pharmelliott@yahoo.com
I hope to see you at the sign up table.
